DR FISHY has compiled match statistics and a report card for the Grimsby Town side that beat Burnley 3-1 in such magnificent circumstances.

Coyne: It was a pity that he couldn't have kept a clean sheet on the last home game of the season because he was in fine form. His positioning was excellent and he made one or two good saves late on in the match. His kicking still drifted a bit.

Grade: B-

McDermott: Since returning from injury just over two months ago, the captain has turned in some outstanding performances and yesterday was no exception. He ran all game, tackled well and he was always making himself available for the pass.

Grade: B

Chapman: He managed to injure someone, injure himself to stay on the pitch after bundling down a striker in the second half but overall he looked comfortable. He could perhaps get further forward but defensively he is solid.

Grade: C+

Groves: Talking about solidity, the manager was like a rock. No one got past him (and when they did they scuffed the shot - Ian Moore). He was immense at the back and had his best aerial game yet, winning absolutely everything, even at Burnley's dangerous set pieces.

Grade: A

Todd: The Charlton player was in top form too, returning to the ways of his earlier spell when he first signed on loan. He has a more relaxed approach that can often play him into trouble but his distribution is top quality and the pair were excellent.

Grade: A-

Cooke: He didn't take many players on and didn't hit the line as much, but there was no need with Boulding's pace up front. Cooke looks experienced for such a young player and could earn himself a contract here after another very good performance.

Grade: B-

Butterfield: Over the years he's proved that he's a versatile player and on the left he looked stable. His form has really picked up towards the end of the season - especially on the right - but he is not so involved on the left.

Grade: C+

Coldicott: Here's a player whose form was dipping of late but against Burnley he turned in a super show in midfield. He truly was a ball winner and passed it off well. He even had time to make daring runs down the right wing!

Grade: B

Pouton: One first half run brought everyone to their feet but he failed to pass at the right time. He did exactly the same in the second half but when he has the ball he gets the fans' on their feet. It was a typical Poutonian performance.

Grade: B

Allen: He marked his return with a poacher's goal at the far post, which he thoroughly deserved. He's worked so hard since being called back into the first team by Paul Groves and yesterday's performance showed why he should be offered a contract.

Grade: B

Boulding: This striker destroyed the Burnley defence in the first half. No one in the Burnley back line had any pace at all and played right into the hands of Boulding. Both his goals were very well taken and he could have had at least a couple more. Like most of the players in the second half, he went quiet.

Grade: A

SUBS

Livingstone: Came on to a rapturous reception from the Blundell Park crowd with about 15 minutes left but his first touch was a foul.

Robinson: The loan striker came on for the last 10 minutes to play on the left wing. He had a good run but lost the ball on the edge of the area.

Ford: He replaced Macca with just a few minutes left and slotted in well. Did nothing of note though.

Best part of Town's performance: Going forward we look sorted. The tactic appears to be resting on wide players and Boulding's pace. Whenever a wide player has the ball they play it between the full back and the centre back into space and Boulding's lightning speed gets him there before anyone else. The team must have done this at least five or six times during the half. On some occasions the pass was too heavy but it caused the keeper to come out of his area all the time and miss-kick into the stands.

Areas for improvement: On this performance all we need to do is keep it up and work on next season.

Entertainment scale: The atmosphere was superb after Boulding's opener had got us on our way. All three goals were well worked and well taken but it was a pity that the second half entertainment was non-existent. Perhaps that's being a bit too harsh on behalf of the players who all busted their gut to get us 3-0 up at half time. However, because the atmosphere was good all through the second half I'm inclined to give the rating 8.3.

Grade Guide

A*This is almost impossible to achieve as I will refuse to give anyone this grade - unless they score six goals and get opposing players sent off.
AThis is more possible to achieve, although the player must have had a brilliant game i.e. he can't have put a foot wrong all match.
A-The player must have performed superbly, setting up goals, scoring goals, making match-winning tackles etc.
B+The player played to a very high standard indeed having been influential throughout the 90 minutes.
BThis can be achieved if the player had a very good game overall but could be forgiven for making one or two minor mistakes.
B-The player put in a performance worthy of special mention for his efforts on the pitch or otherwise having a good game.
C+A mark for players who have had an average game but at the same time played well in patches and may have had an impact on the final score.
CAn average performance but not worthy of being dropped for the next game - a competent performance.
C-Start thinking about the player's attitude and commitment on the pitch. Showed little effort and was probably invisible for most of the match.
D+Poor game and realistically shouldn't feature in the next game.
DThis player shouldn't be playing in the near future.
D-The player deserves to be fined for his abysmal performance
EThe player should be sacked
F And then shot
