Donovan's Hard Luck!

FORMER Grimsby Town player Kevin Donovan today declared it had been a 'season to forget' at Oakwell "It's been agony having to watch and not do anything about it. It's probably worse than being out there and I just feel numb."

"After the game people were just standing around waiting for something to happen to change it - but we knew nothing could."

The Grimsby Telegraph talked to Donovan who said: "It's been creeping up on us for weeks and we haven't been quick enough to realise what the problem was. It hasn't even come to the last game and that makes it worse. When you look back at the table I can't believe we've been relegated."

"This season has gone completely the opposite way to how I expected, but I'm afraid these things happen and you have to get your head down and get on with it."

"I'm hoping to get back in a few weeks and I should be back for pre-season. But all I've been able to do is sit here and think."

"It's been a season to forget for me, but that's part and parcel of football and it's the first time this has really happened to me."

"It had to happen sooner or later."
