Santos Signing In Doubt!

PAUL Groves is on an urgent mission at the moment in trying to get George Santos to sign on the dotted line. Santos must sign by today or he cannot play for Town tomorrow night.

Talks with Santos were commenced despite his sending off that could lead to a three match suspension. But his performances for the Mariners have been impressive and it is only natural that Groves wants to retain him.

But it seems that personal terms are blocking the signing with Groves on a strict wages budget.

Groves told the Grimsby Telegraph: "It's not looking good at the moment. We're waiting to speak to the chairman. Time is pressing and we are desperate to keep him until the end of the season. We'll sign him on a non-contract if that's what it takes to have him available tomorrow."

"After this game he's banned for three matches so we need him against Burnley. He gives us a physical presence and something in both boxes. We're pulling out all the stops."

If Santos does not sign today, the Mariners have until November 16, to do the deal.

The club are also awaiting a response from Kabba about his season long loan offer and Groves is not winning so far on either count.
