Alexander: Don't Rule Me Out!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 11/02/2004

KEITH Alexander said don't rule him out of the managers job at Grimsby Town "I've been in football long enough to know that things can change quickly."

Keith talked to the Grimsby Telegraph saying; "I've got a job to do at Lincoln that I've started and, I think, is going pretty well. I've been coming back to work on and off for the past month and things are going well here. We're not a million miles away."

"That's all I'm concentrating on at the moment. There's nothing more I can say. I haven't spoken to anyone at Grimsby but I've been in football long enough to know that things can change quickly."

"I like Grimsby as a club. Everyone knows that. I had a good time there and they deserve to be higher up in the league."

"Once you've been in the first division for a few years people think you should always be there, but that's not always the case."

"Alan Buckley is out of a job - he'll probably get it."

  • The Grimsby Telegraph also pointed out that Alexander's salary is one of the lowest in the Football League and he has dragged Lincoln from the brink of extinction to promotion hopefuls on a budget that sees some of his players earning £200 a week."

Now isn't that the sort of manager we are looking for. Or is it?

But Buckley cannot be ruled out either, he is available, knows the club, and some support amongst the fans. What the current board think of him is not known.

So the great managerial serial continues in the next episode!
