Final Minute Action Takes Town Into The Playoffs

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 07/05/2006

TOWN went into the playoffs today in the last minute of action at both Blundell Park and Oxford which is a major disappointment after being in a promotion spot most of the season.

Town went ahead 1-0 when JP Kalala scored from a penalty in the 75th minute and Oxford was drawing 2-2 against Leyton Orient.

In the last minute of injury time Gilligan equalised for Northampton from a corner and at Oxford almost at the same time, Leyton Orient scored making it 3-2 and Grimsby's dream of automatic promotion went down the drain.

But the truth is, we could have had promotion achieved before this final game if we had not had so many poor performances throughout the season.

It is a bitter result on the final day of the full season and we now have to pick ourselves up and win through via the playoffs and it looks like that will be more difficult than today's game.

But the fans and supporters will not waver. They will be there again in droves urging Town to win. That is really what Town fans are all about. We really are barmy!!
