Fenton to Miss Lincoln

NICK Fenton will miss Town's big derby game against Lincoln next week after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Shrewsbury. With Town only having two recognised centre backs, Alan Buckley will either have to play someone out of position or bring in another loan player.

Youth Team player Miles Chamberlain had been the only other central defender at the club besides Whittle and Fenton, but he was released by Alan Buckley last month. Of the players still at the club Gary Croft has played as an emergency centre back earlier in his career. Besides Croft and a loan player the only alternatives would be either to play a defensive midfielder such as Gary Harkins in the back four, or to raid the youth team for a rookie defender. A formation change presumably would be unthinkable for Alan Buckley, for whom 4-4-2 is something of a mantra.

  • In other news Town striker Michael Reddy has been given the green light to resume full time training. The Irishman had a hip operation in September to overcome a long-standing injury, and the surgeon who operated on the flamboyant striker has given the nod for the 27-year-old to make the next step up in his comeback schedule. Reddy is out of contract in the summer, and requested to be placed on the transfer list only days before the current season started.

  • Gary Croft was voted by the Fishy's readers as their player of the month for November. Please keep nominating players at the end of match reports, as the final shortlist of six is drawn from these votes.
