Free Buses to Mansfield!

By: GTFC
Date: 07/02/2007

THE next promotion for the Team Up With GTFC campaign is Grimsby Town FC funding free coaches for the Mansfield game, away at Fieldmill on Saturday 17th February 2007.

Town chairman, John Fenty, says that it would be devastating if the club were to lose their Football League status, and he feels that the supporters have a big part to play away from Blundell Park in helping the team fight the threat of relegation.

He said:"The club feel that it is also necessary to get fans behind the team away from Blundell Park. On Saturday versus Boston, all the players commented on the tremendous support from the Town fans behind the goal."

"They indeed were the 12th (& probably the 13th) man on Saturday."

"There is a huge sense of togetherness of supporters at away games, something that tends to get lost at Blundell Park because all the fans sit in different areas."

"The club simply needs to replicate that support at other away games. I hope that the free away travel is well received and if it has the desired affect, I may extend it to another game."

The Mariners have now received 1000 tickets from Mansfield and the fixture is all ticket for Grimsby Town fans.

Prices are £16 Adults, £10 Senior Citizens & Students with just £7 for juniors.

The club has initially booked 7 coaches, with a further 3 in reserve. That is 500 places free for fans. If there is more demand than the 500, we will look at booking more coaches if available.

The tickets for the Mansfield game will go on sale today (Wednesday) to season ticket holders only as they will have first refusal to book their seats on the coaches.

Everybody who books a seat on a coach will receive a 'special ticket' holding the details of which coach they will be on. Season ticket holders will have until after the Bristol Rovers game to buy their tickets & book their seats on the coaches.

As there can be no Under 16's travelling alone on coaches, junior season ticket holders will also be able to purchase an additional Mansfield ticket for a parent to accompany them.

From next Monday, the coaches will go on general release to fans purchasing Mansfield tickets.

It is envisaged that the coaches will leave Blundell Park at approximately 11am, but we will confirm this as soon as the police give us an indication.

There will be strictly no smoking or no alcohol consumption on any coach.

Any fan wanting tickets for the Mansfield game, but not requiring coach travel will be able to purchase their Mansfield tickets from today.
