No Glennon, Kiernan or JMD then.

No idea what the system is. 4-3-3 / 4-5-1 with Cropper at LB and Clifton LW?

Or perhaps 3 at the back with Efete at CB with Cropper and Clifton as wing backs?

Orsi? Hunt. JMD. Kiernan.
Amos unwell. Presume Glennon is too. Anyone else left out? Pearson….

I think Hurst did say he’d rotate it.

I think it's our usual formation looking at that. I'm a little disappointed Richardson hasn't started after the effect he had at the end of the Bradford game

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Bit we play on the break a lot, Taylor can be a pain but he doesn’t hold the ball up well enough for me and is slow than a sloth.

Can understand Taylor getting the nod when the formation we play works well away from home. Richardson did well against Bradford so hopefully can come on later in the game where they really don't want to deal with a young player running at them. Physicality is less of an issue when there are tired legs.

Looks a tad windy. Wouldn’t fancy trying to deal with those Cropper bombs tonight if I were a Barrow defender.

Ricardson looked classy for the 15 mins he was on.
Hopefully, he'll get 30 mins tonight. Depends on what the score is on the hour one guesses.

Theres that usual gap between the front 3 and the midfield again as if we're not sure what we're doing with half the teams sat deep and the other is pressing

Yes usual (take the rose tinted glasses off we aren't perfect). We often start our games like this with a weird half press half deep before we settle normally its the back 4 and defensive midfielders pushing up to match our front 3s press (those 3 players Hurst allowed in the oppositions box outside of setpieces). Oh and look at that after about 15 minutes we've settled and the whole team is pressing as one now and gaps disapeared.

We've just won a corner, taken it quickly and then passed it back into defence before losing the ball. Awful decision making - get it in the box!

We just don’t have a ‘usual’ gap between ‘midfield and front 3’. That’s just patently, word for word, negative b0llocks.

It’s been a dodgy 25 minutes really. Barrow are on a bad run; keeping them out until half-time and then composing ourselves really is a must.

For purposes of balance Crocombe has (as usual) been excellent. Waterfall's been pretty solid too.

Efete scares me at left back, showing he's clearly 1 footed.
Not sure what's worse the commentary or the start we've made haha. Keep the faith

Silly yellow card for their left back there. We need to channel it down the right more; they seem aware of Efete’s right footedness on our left.

That's crap from Holohan to lose the ball there with an easy pass on. Leads to a penalty for them. Ace

Why were we not marking the man on the edge of the box from the start instead we've invited that penalty decision with the tackle from behind

Credit to Barrow, when we've got the ball they've got men behind the ball. For me our system isn't working, I personally would go 352 second half.

Well, not a great half from Town that, but we got away with it. Shooting towards our own fans second-half while they shoot towards some kind of 1970s trading estate office building for inspiration.

As disappointing as that was, the game is there for the taking if we can sort ourselves out.

Barrow look lively as the home team should do. We need to be getting forward with a bit more conviction, long balls will end up with their players all the time and they seem first to second balls. Hopefully Hurst can sort everyone out at half time, Kahn looked rattled since giving away a penalty that shouldn't have been, needs to calm down and get focussed again.

Poor half really. Barrow have just been quicker to everything tonight, we beat one man they've closed us down with 2, stray pass Barrow are on it and picking it up, we close them down they've already moved the ball.

Our set pieces have been poor for a 2nd game on the trot and less said about our defending that led to their pen the better.

Saying that Max has been great, Efete hasn't looked too bad at LB and Smith has put in his usual performance.

The Waterfall challenge looked like a nailed on penalty. Maybe  in the refs mind when another challenge went in
Christ, Cropper should be playing American Football - by far our most creative player

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

Barrow huffed and puffed and we rode our luck. It was never a pen and a brilliant save by Max kept us in it. Efete is having a good game considering he is out of position as is Waterfall. All told those 3 have played really well.

Khan seems to have an off day by his high standard but we need to do more in midfield instead of a yo yo effect. We do not seem to have put them under constant pressure, perhaps Richardson coming on and running at them will do the trick.

Yet another poor corner to end the half. Decision-making and execution severely lacking so far this evening and we have to be happy going in level at half time. Not shown much as an attacking threat but Taylor has to do better on two occasions with the ball at his feet in the area, especially with the attempted pull back after a poor touch took him wide. Holohan puts Clifton through on goal with a more delicate pass in injury time. Defending alright but too many needless free kicks with Barrow looking to go down with the slightest contact. Ref hasn't bought too many of their flops though, thankfully. Max being Max after a more than debatable penalty decision. Need a much better second half.

What a turgid 45 mins that was. Awful watch.  Only highlight is that the awful decision from the ref hasn't cost us a goal.
Need Hunt on in my opinion, midfield offering no threat or composure, Taylor getting no service at all.
Cropper bombs could be our best hope if we play like that again in the second half.

thought efete has done well, esp. as his left foot is just for standing on!
Do like Morris and Khan offers so much more than Kiernan.
Smith, Waterfall & Crocombe superb as usual
Green's use of the ball much, much better than when i saw him at Stockport

Corners need to improve -been spoilt with glennon and Hunt on them, khan's have been utterly dire.

Croppers throw is such a weapon.

Max fantastic penalty save - super max!

Kahn and Holohan need to get on the ball more.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Was that the lay down dance by their player?

We need to make a change if we're going to win this.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Think we just have to accept that Hurst will never make a substitution in a tight even game before 70 minutes unless forced by injury.

Seems like each time there is a game streamed it always ends up really boring. Town look like the players were on the lash last night, sluggish and nobody wants to do anything but lump it into the air to nothing. Now they scored and pretty much deserved because they've been better and more lively.

We’ve been poor tonight and not sure we can complain. Ball hasn’t stuck up front tonight so we’ve not really been able to build any sustained attacks.

This second half performance from Taylor is why people are critical of him btw. He went missing since hitting a one on one straight at the keeper about 5 seconds after the restart.

Too slow and vastly inaccurate passing tonight.

Struggled to make the ball stick, or pass easily to our running players.

Not looking good even for an equaliser !

Nothing happening up front at all !!

Losing far too balls when in possession - not fast enough !!

No real MOM to consider tonight. Lacklustre performance against an average side really !

From best performance of the season to the worst in 90 minutes! Can't think of any positives at all I'm afraid. Absolutely dreadful although I'd agree all the bounces have fallen Barrow's way for some bizarre reason. Perhaps the epitome of making your own luck? Fully deserved Barrow victory.

Tomorrow is a year to the day since we lost away at Wealdstone following a good run, and tonight was oddly reminiscent of that performance.

Hopefully this isn’t the beginnings of a slippery slope. We’ve struggled in midweek games so far this season, for whatever reason.

Disappointing but a chance to put it right on Saturday.

Awful performance not helped by the ref giving them everything when they fall on the ground and we got nothing all adds to their momentum, but when we did get possession we had no pace up top to stretch them.  Taylor is great at holding it up but i felt we needed different forwards tonight.

Really really poor performance. No urgency. no quality. I know conditions were poor but we couldn't get it down and string half a dozen passes together let alone move forward with purpose. We created nothing. Taylor isolated. Service into him poor. So many mis placed passes. We all looked second best with not enough zip to passes. We got what we deserved - nothing.

Move on.

I’ve watched Town for 25 years, most of them have been excrement but that is up there with one of the worst performances and all round games I’ve ever seen

Simmonds and Pepple are slower than Taylor so why? Sluggish off field and on.

this is the point i made on saturday, i think. we need someone with a bit of pace and the guile to run at people

Absolutely fking awful performance with the ball. Never got going , looked leggy in all areas, offensive play absolutely ineffective.
1-11 couldn't control a ball and didn't look comfortable in possession at all.
They were sh1t, on a poor run and we start with one leggy isolated striker . Hurst has to take partial blame for the set up, approach and failure to react to what was evident after 5 mins.

Players tried but too many running on empty.

Not very often I criticise Town, but tonight we were abysmal.  We never really had a decent spell in the whole of the game and I can't remember their keeper having to make a save.   We looked like a totally different team tonight, let's hope we get a better performance on Saturday. UTM.

Christ on a bike, that was a tough watch. Hsrs off to the town fans that went, right now I feel like putting my foot through my tv tbh, unfortunately nobody comes out of the game with any credit, ah well, let's hope we pull our socks up against hartlepool..

Just Crocombe really. Morris did alright for an hour. Perhaps it's hard to estimate the difference Glennon makes. Would have been a different game I think. Nothing down the flanks for us tonight.

Yep - Tuesday night away at a non-League type ground 200 miles away from GY - I guess we should have expected it...

What a load of s1hte. I scuffed shot from 20 yrds. Morris/Green were knackered at 60 mins but left on till 80. No possesion, no width (missed Glennon/Amos) (Khan on wrong side), no pace, good defending at times. Out thought and out fought. Bad night all round. Barrow were nothing really but easy for them if they dont have to worry about our strikeforce.
I just don't understand what happens from one game to another. Last 2 weeks looked a good team but tonight what was going on.

There was a moment on about 92ish minutes just before the ball was passed forward to Richardson and then Hunt fouled his man that summed the game up for me. 8 Town players in our half, not a single town player between them and the 3 up front on the edge of their box.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Players looked knackered from the off and the changes made weakened the side.Khan and  Morris should have been  hooked  at half time  and how Simmonds makes the bench and indeed the pitch defies belief? Baffling but hey ho.UTM onwards and upwards

Well we got what we deserved, absolutely nothing.

Crocombe the one bright spot, Waterfalland cropper wasn't bad defensively either, so so little effect going forward. Real off game for holohan, Khan, Taylor and green and Morris and clifton not much better.

Efette looks even more out of place at LB than he does at RB. Richardson, Simmonds, Hunt and pepple all utterly anonymous when they came on (or worse noticeably poor).

Whatever Hurst said at half time didn't work, and tye subs were too late, however they didn't change anything so maybe they can't complain at not being on earlier. At least we held on to a top half place.

Dreadful game and utterly forgettable so lets forget about it and move on.

As the saying goes 'It was a bad day at the office'. Let's hope we got it out of our system and are back to normal for the trip to Hartlepool.

They (simmonds and hunt) had the chance not to intercourse up a basic 1 - 2 between them were both had space, but didn't.

They were as off the pace as everyone else. Perhaps they could use the excuse of not having time to adjust to the game but they also should have been fresher and with more energy than everyone else by the time came on.

Do I take that to mean he didn't give a post-match interview?

If not, he was probably fuming with the players.

It's not as simple as that though, is it?

We struggle to break teams down and that is not the fault of one individual.
