Who will win League 2?

Where's Me Shirt?!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 20/09/2001

GRIMSBY TOWN fans may not be flocking through the gates at Blundell Park but they are to the club shop which is experiencing a sell out with all gents replica shirts sold out. The record sales are attributed to the great start the Mariners have had to this new season.

The Grimsby Telegraph reports that the club has sold every mens size home shirt from an original order which should have lasted until well after Christmas which means a good cash bonus for the club who now are awaiting another batch to be delivered.

Tony Richardson, Grimsby Town Football Club commercial manager said "I am delighted to sell the amount of shirts that we have. The number that we have sold would usually last well over the Christmas period."

"I think that one of the reasons we have sold so many is that the supporters actually like the shirt - the fans do like the plain black on the back as it enables them to have numbers and names put onto them."

"The club shop has had a nice product range over the past few years and to sell this amount of shirts so early in the season is very encouraging,"

Supplies of the shirts ran low last week as fans at the games against Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest continued to snap-up the replicas.

Mr Richardson pointed out that the shirts are only available from the official Club Shop as there is no arrangement with multinational companies to sell them which was to avoid retailers cutting the prices of the shirt and creating a price war.
