Fulham Defender Arrives on Trial

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 18/12/2001

FULHAM central defender Mark Hudson has arrived at Blundell Park for a two day trial with a view to arranging a loan spell with the Mariners. The 19-year-old defender, who has made just two League Cup appearances for the Cottagers, will hopefully give Lennie Lawrence some more defensive options.

After losing both loan central defenders (Broomes and Beharall) in recent weeks due to them receiving better offers from elsewhere than Grimsby could match, Lawrence has returned to Craven Cottage to bring in another fresh face. The 6-foot Surrey-born youngster has come through the youth ranks at Craven Cottage, and would welcome first team experience with the Mariners.

Fulham has provided a happy hunting ground for the Town boss in the past with both Luke Cornwall (last year on loan) and right back Alan Neilson arriving at Blundell Park via the big-spending London club.

Mark Hudson Profile

Height 6'1"
Weight 12st 1lb
Date of birth 30-03-1982
Place of birth Guildford
Position Defender
Nationality English

Lennie Lawrence and Town Chairman Peter Furneaux have declined to appear on tonight's Radio Humberside phone-in as the "timing isn't right for them".
