Pair Sign Up

TEENAGERS Iain Ward and Chris Bolder have both signed new one-year deals with the Mariners, making them the first of Town player boss Paul Groves' summer signings. Grimbarian defender Ward made his first team debut against Millwall in last season's final game, whereas Bolder is yet to make his bow.

Groves is hoping to secure the signatures of several out-of-contract players before the new campaign begins in August to strengthen further Town's currently tiny first team squad.

Reserve team boss Paul Wilkinson, who has seen the pair progress through the ranks at Blundell Park, said: "Chris Bolder developed as a player last season and earned his place in the first-team squad on a number of occasions. He's hard-working, aggressive, strong and can get from box to box, where he is a threat.

"Wardy is another local lad who developed a little bit later on last season. He's a tall, rangy lad who can play in three or four positions, which is one of his strengths," Wilkinson told the club's official web site.
