Jones Out For Six Weeks!

NEW signing Glen Downey will join fellow injury victim Rob Jones in the treatment room for the next few weeks. Rob Jones requires keyhole surgery on a knee injury, meaning he will be out for six weeks, whilst Downey is waiting for the prognosis on an ankle problem.

Slade is likely to be forced to play the same back three as were used in the 5-1 win over Bury on Saturday for the weekend's clash with Rushden and Diamonds.

"It's one thing after another back there, it really is," Town boss Russell Slade told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"First Craney is injured in pre-season, and is forced out for the season. Then Jonesy is crocked two games in. Now even the cover I have brought in is injured - it's unbelievable really."

  • In other news Grimsby's game with Northampton has been moved forward to Friday October 8th (19:45 KO), to avoid the fixture coinciding with the England v Wales World Cup Qualifier.

  • Ex-Town left back Tony Gallimore has joined Grimsby's League Two rivals Rochdale. The 32-year-old has been on trial at Spotland since the summer.
