Humberside Petition

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 14/02/2005

The Fishy believes the ban on Radio Humberside not to be in the interest of Grimsby Town Football Club and its supporters. We are fortunate to live in a country with a free press, and no organisation should expect to use the media as its official mouthpiece.

Furthermore, this is a time when the Mariners need all the help they can get to promote the club around the local area and bring in much needed funds to help keep the club in business. It therefore would seem to be an unwise move to ostracise by far the largest local radio station, which has daily sports bulletins on Town, covers all Grimsby's matches, and reaches out into the local community and beyond. Radio Humberside can help Grimsby raise the money they need, not hinder it.

If you agree that Town's ban of Radio Humberside is wrong then please sign our petition. Our recent opinion poll showed that over 70% of supporters did not agree with the ban on Radio Humberside. It only takes a few seconds and we will send all signatures to the club when the names on the petition has reached a fairly constant number.

Above all, Grimsby Town belongs to its supporters, and this issue affects us all very dearly. But sometimes we need to make our voices heard to those who run our beloved institution, a big part of many Grimbarian's lives since 1878.
