GRIMSBY player-coach John McDermott said he is unsure what role he will be playing for the club next season despite being told he will be retained.
Radio Humberside reported that Macca, whose contract ends this summer, is confident he will continue into his 18th season as a player for the Mariners but his position as a coach remains unclear.
"Russell Slade, the manager, has told me he wants me here next season. I've played 40 games this year so playing-wise it's probably been one of my better seasons. But it's down to the board and finances if they can accommodate me as a player-coach or just as a player."
The Town boss will begin discussions with his current squad about contracts for next season following the Scunthorpe game.
