Terry Cooke

Very talented midfielder who quickly became a fans' favourite at Blundell Park, but due to unsavoury events off the pitch was ushered out of the club quite quickly.

Cooke started his career off with Manchester United in the 1994/1995 season. He was given his first chance under Alex Ferguson the following season and made 8 appearances in total and scored once. Cooke however would fall short of his dream to play for United and as so many players such as David Beckham made the grade, players such as Cooke, Ben Thornley, John O'Kane, Simon Davies, Pat McGibbon, Kevin Pilkington and ex Mariner Michael Appleton were all released.

While at Old Trafford, Cooke spent time on loan with Sunderland, Birmingham City, Wrexham and finally rivals Manchester City, where he then moved permanently. Cooke became an integral part of the Maine Road side and boosted them out of the Second Division at the first attempt of trying.

Once back in the First Division, Terry was only a utility player and was farmed out to Wigan Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday on loan before he moved to Grimsby on loan for the remaining month of the 2001/2002 season, scoring once and playing in 3 games.

The following season saw Cooke arrive on a free transfer and he quickly adapted to life at Grimsby, his determination and skill earned him a place in the fans' heart, until rumours that he fell out with manager Paul Groves and that he was "messing" around with John McDermott's wife came to play.

Cooke was dropped and axed from Town at the end of the 2002/2003 season and signed a 1 year contract with Sheffield Wednesday. Cooke played out his contract at Hillsborough, and now plays for Colorado Rapids in the MSL League in America.

Next Player: Lee Thorpe
