Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Who's Your Hero?
Who's Your Hero?

January Player of the Month

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 19/02/2006

AFTER the superb month of December, January was a disappointing affair with only one win in six games, most of which were crammed into a frenetic second half to the month.

Home > 2005-2006 Season > Player of the Month > January

Here are the six nominations for January's player of the month award:

Paul Bolland - Midfielder

Bolly’s form has been top notch so far this season and is an unsung hero in the midfield department.

Ben Futcher Defender

Son of the legendary Paul, who joined during the month and made his debut against Mansfield. Scored his first goal for the Mariners in the 2-2 draw at Torquay.

Rob Jones - Defender

The most likely recipient of the eventual Player of the Year award, Jonah played every game in January. Ever-reliable, the former teacher makes Town's defence tick and is the fulcrum of our back line.

Steve Mildenhall - Goalkeeper

Steve has been the backbone of Town's defence (one of the best in the all four leagues) and is a much better goalie than the one we had last season. Arguably Slade's best signing of the summer.

Tom Newey - Defender

Dependable left back who has kept his place in the team at his normal left back position, despite the competition from Gary Croft.

Ciaran Toner - Midfielder

One of the players at Blundell Park who has been unlucky to have been left out due to the success of the team when he's not been in the side. Came in against Macclesfield during November and kept JPK out the side. Was unlucky to be overlooked for the Peterborough game.

November Games
02/01Carlisle 1-2 Bolland
14/01Mansfield 2-1 Reddy, Parkinson
17/01Darlington0-0
21/01Torquay2-2Parkinson, Futcher
24/01Stockport1-2Reddy
28/01Peterborough1-2Reddy
