Beat the Bookies: Week 6

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 18/09/2007

JUST like with the football Beat the Bookies is keeping the faith, knowing that it is only a matter of time before we turn the corner and back a few winners!

Home > 2007-2008 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 6

This week sees the Mariners travel to Lincoln, a ground they have not won at in their current spell in League Two, with the notable exception of the 1-0 victory in the play-off match two years ago. Both teams at the moment are hardly in sparkling form but the Bookies have made City favourites at 11/10, with Town 11/5 to grab their first win of the season. The odds sound about right, although once again the 11/5 on offer for a draw looks tempting.

Elsewhere in League Two the fancied teams are mainly playing at home against less fancied opposition, meaning there are some long odds knocking about for several away wins. Barnet are 9/2 to win at Chesterfield, Morecambe 5/1 to win at unbeaten Peterborough and Notts County 3/1 to beat Rotherham. Of those teams Morecambe stand out purely because they have gone to so many "fortresses" already this season and come home with a victory. Can they do it again at London Road? We certainly think so.

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Lincoln to draw with Grimsby (11/5, bet365).
  • 2. Morecambe to beat Peterborough (5/1, bet365).
