Hearn Wins Player of the Season

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 25/04/2012

LIAM Hearn was awarded the Player of the Year accolade at last night's award ceremony. The former Alfreton striker needs one more goal in the final game to reach an impressive 30 goal haul for the season, his first at this level. As well as the main award, Hearn also collected five other awards.

The Young Player of the Year was Conor Townsend, despite him being technically a Hull City player, and only on loan from Grimsby.

Other players to win awards were James McKeown, Shaun Pearson, and Michael Coulson for Goal of the Season - his strike against Ebbsfleet.

Hearn was signed from Alfreton to replace Alan Connell, who ironically also scored 29 goals in the Conference last season, and is now banging them in for Swindon. He has been one of the undoubted success stories of a mixed campaign, and is undoubtedly Town's biggest asset.

Although other clubs would like to sign the 26-year-old he is still under contract at Grimsby, and expected to start next season at Blundell Park - unless a huge offer comes in during the summer.
