Beat the Bookies: Week 2

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/08/2012

WEEK One saw a good start to the first week of the season with Hereford and Lincoln both winning. Only Southport "let us down" by not beating Grimsby.

This week all the football league are back in business and we can truly say that the summer is over and football can take pride of place for the next nine months.

Blue Square Premier

  • Reading v Stoke - draw (3.4, Sky Bet). There could be a few draws in the PL this weekend, but this looks a very likely contender. Stoke don't win many away, Reading will probably be happy with a point in their first game at this level.
  • Crawley Town v Scunthorpe - home win (2.1, Blue Square). Crawley look likely to do well this season. Scunny were very fortunate to beat Derby and at the end of the day still conceded five goals, so could well struggle in Sussex.
  • Grimsby v Nuneaton - Grimsby to win by 3 or more goals (4.8, Bet Internet). The general consensus seems to be that Town have been unlucky to just have 1 point on the board. Early indications are that Nuneaton could be a bit out of their depth in this league. Could a backlash be on the cards?

    Rugby League

  • Salford v Huddersfield (2.8, Bet 365). Salford had a poor second half in London last week, but that asides they have had a good season. Huddersfield's campaign has come off the rails in recent weeks.
