Cambridge v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/01/2014

NEW signing Oumare Tounkara could start against second placed Cambridge tonight as Town bid to catch up with the teams above them. The on-loan Stevenage striker, who will be at Blundell Park until the end of the season, has played for a number of league clubs both in the UK and in his native France.

Another option for Paul Hurst is centre back Chris Doig who has got the all clear following a neck injury. Centre back Clayton MacDonald (arm) is another defender available to Hurst, who should be able to pick his strongest team to take on the U's.

Cambridge won narrowly at Blundell Park earlier this season, but their form has dipped a little since their terrific start, and they have only won one of their last four league games, drawing the other three. The U's threw away a 2-0 lead at strugglers Dartford on Saturday and had to score a late equaliser to get a point.

Striker Ryan Bird, a new signing on loan from Portsmouth, who scored twice on his debut in Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Dartford, is ruled out with a thigh problem. Midfielder Harrison Dunk and striker Matthew Barnes-Homer are also doubtful.

The match will definitely go ahead and is not subject to a pitch inspection.
