THE road to Wembley is now clear following the FA Trophy semi-final draw and Town will have to beat second-placed Cambridge over two legs to reach the national stadium for the second consecutive year.

The first leg will be played at the Abbey Stadium on Saturday 15 February (3pm) with the return leg at Blundell Park on Saturday February 22 (3pm). Extra time and penalties will be used if necessary to decide the winner.

The Mariners were recently emphatic 2-1 winners at Cambridge in a league fixture, the first team to win at the Abbey Stadium this season.

There is bound to be a large demand for tickets for the first leg so fans wanting to attend the away game are advised to hang onto their ticket stubs for the home match with Southport on Saturday in case holders of stubs for that game are given preference.

Either Havant & Waterlooville or Aldershot will face Gosport Borough in the other semi, meaning whoever wins the Grimsby v Cambridge clash will be overwhelming favourite to lift the trophy.

If Grimsby reach the final again they will expect to have earned a six figure sum from the tournament, in addition to the boost to the coffers which the FA Cup run gave.
