Clay: Recall?
Clay: Recall?

Grimsby v Macclesfield Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 30/08/2015

PAUL Hurst has spent the whole week thinking about which two of his three centre backs to play. Now the answer is a lot clearer as Josh Gowling is suspended so it means Hurst will also go for Pearson/Nsiala at the back as the team looked very solid at Lincoln.

Further up the pitch Hurst has several options and with a relatively large squad he can change things to take advantage of fresh players just 48 hours after a derby game. It's likely to be a heavy surface at Blundell Park with heavy rain forecast for the whole day so it's going to physically demanding for players.

Craig Clay is an obvious player Hurst can turn to with the midfield having had such a tough game at Lincoln. Hurst went with a three man midfield following Gowling's sending off and Craig Disley may well be feeling effects of a tough battle as a result.

Jack Mackreth, Marcus Marshall and Jon-Paul Pittman are other options Hurst can turn to.

Macclesfield have three consecutive wins at Blundell Park so Town have their work cut out to get the three points they need to get them closer to the promotion places.

The Silkmen suffered a nightmare finish to local rivals Chester at the weekend when they conceded two last minute goals to see three points slip through their fingers.
