Harrogate v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 23/10/2015

GRIMSBY have a break from league action when they take on Harrogate in the FA Cup on Saturday. However the fist team squad won't be getting a rest as Paul Hurst has promised to play his strongest side in the 4th Qualifying Round game.

Midfielders Josh Venney and Scott Brown are the most likely fringe players to be involved if Hurst makes any changes. The pair have seen little or no action in the first team this season and Craig Disley is one booking away from a suspension so Hurst may be tempted to rest his captain in the centre of the park.

Andy Monkhouse, Josh Gowling and Gregor Robertson are all unavailable through injury so pretty much every fit player will be at Harrogate tomorrow as seven subs can be named in the FA Cup.

Harrogate have several Grimsby connections, notably assistant manager John McDermott, who is Town's record appearance holder in nearly twenty years at Blundell Park. Former Grimsby players defender Matt Bloomer and winger Joe Colbeck are both expected to start for the home side who will be hoping for an FA Cup scalp. Harrogate are third in the National League North and have won their last four games so they are doing well just a division below the level Grimsby play at and will be no pushover in front of a big crowd.
