Question of the Week

Who will go down?

What now?
What now?

Over and Out

GRIMSBY had a say in the title race in the season's final game as they held Plymouth to a draw which denied the Pilgrims the League Two title. A Shaun Pearson goal gave Town a lead in the opening minute, a lead which lasted until Jimmy Spencer equalised in the second half, and Town hung on for a point.

It mean the Mariners finished 14th, a position they have occupied for several weeks.

Forgotten man Sean McAllister and Tom Bolarinwa both started in midfield and Town raced to a 1-0 lead when Pearson hooked the ball in from the aftermath of a corner. With both sides going for the win there was plenty of action at both ends in an entertaining game as both 'keepers were called into action in the first half.

Argyle upped the pressure after the break with it clear that Portsmouth were going to win. Substitute Jimmy Spencer took advantage of a defensive mistake by Town and slotted the ball past McKeown to level the game.

Argyle piled forward for a winner, but it was not to be, and the Mariners held for a deserved point.

And so the season ends. It's been a tale of inconsitency under three different managers and dozens of players. The season will probably not be remembered for football reasons.
