Town Win in Devon

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 20/07/2017

GRIMSBY continued their 100% winning record in pre-season with two wins in the mini-tour of Devon. The Mariners thrashed Bideford 4-0 on Tuesday and followed that up with an emphatic 7-1 drubbing of Tavistock on Thursday night.

Mitch Rose scored twice against Bideford with strikers Scott Vernon and Adi Yussuf also weighing in with goals. An impressive five different players scored against Tavistock with Harry Cardwell and Sam Jones's braces being supplemented by strikes from Harry Cardwell, Jack Keeble, Bairiki Dembele and Scott Vernon.

Town head back to Lincolnshire with their next game being the Lincolnshire Cup Final against Boston on Saturday at York Street. If they win the trophy it will be their eighth successive win in pre-season, a 100% record.
