Ilkeston Report

News From19th July 2000

Paul Raven

Paul Raven got his name on the score sheet tonight at Ilkeston Town, unfortunately he skillfully headed the ball past Crousden into his own net! Town went on to lose 2-1 with Ashcroft scoring the first half equaliser almost immediately after Raven's own goal.

In the second half the Mariners clattered the post of Andy Love's goal twice,Kingsley with one of his free kicks and I think Allen with a shot from outside the box. Tracy provided the evening's most comical moment when brilliantly put through by Allen and with only Andy Love to beat he put his shot just inside the corner flag! Despite his own goal Raven looked pretty steady at the back with Bloomer looking quite good too. Andy Smith looked quite useful, Gally looked and played as if carrying a hangover. Good to see Burnett get a bit of a run out but he still looks as if he's got a long way to go.

The following players all got part of a game with Captain Fantastic being the only one to play the entire 90 minutes:

Crousden, Butterfield, Gallimore, Raven, Bloomer, Pouton, Buckley, Groves, A Smith, Clare, Ashcroft, Chapman, Coyne, McDermott, Livingstone, Burnett, D Smith, Donovan, Coldicott, Black, Allen. 2 other young players with the names Hamilton and Mckenzie on their backs. I'm sure I've missed one player out but I can't for the life of me think who.
