No Rush For Players But Groves Appoints Captain

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 02/01/2002

PAUL GROVES will not be rushing to bring in any new players he said today. Since taking over as manager his feet have hardly touched the ground with 2 games since his appointment and another one this coming Saturday.

"I haven't had chance to do anything really but once we get an opportunity to go and look around and see what's available and make a few enquiries then we'll be trying to bring in a little bit of help."

One thing that he has settled quickly is the club captaincy. He has now officially declared that John McDermott will be the captain with Tony Gallimore standing in for him until he returns from the injured list.

This will please many fans who will see this as a reward to Macca who has been a long time favourite who pledged his future to the Mariners.
