Marcel Cas said his decision to come to Grimsby was because he wanted to play football despite Sheffield United offering him more money. "Sheffield offered me more money to stay and I could also have waited to see if better offers came along. But this was the chance to play and that is what I want to do, he said.

In an interview with the Grimsby Telegraph he said he "When I was at Sheffield I was in good form, playing well, but not really getting a good chance to play in the first team."

He moved to Sheffield when Notts County had to leave him out of the side rather than pay his appearance money. "I was on good money at Notts County and when they had their problems I found myself on the bench. But they said it was because of loss of form."

"I thought I played some good games for them (Sheffield United) and it was disappointing to be on the bench because I thought I was better than some of the players ahead of me. So when Grimsby Town spoke to my agent I was interested to talk to them. Graham Rodger said that he and Paul Groves wanted me and would give me the opportunity to play regular first team football."

"I go all the game, whether it be attacking or helping to defend. I am good in the air. I like to get in crosses and I can shoot with either foot." When asked if he was quick, he replied: "I am not the slowest."

On Macca he said, "I have not met him yet but we will talk to each other and work out how we will play."
