The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

Looking Forward

LAST week I tried (and miserably failed) to guess whom our new midfielder would be and the reason why I never guessed him was his name wasn't on the PFA list I used.

So I thought I'll try and guess who the new forward would be by using the same list and there’s a few interesting names that appear on there which fit the criteria Paul Groves has leaked to the media.

So here’s my list and a rating out of 5 on each player

Andy Parkinson Andy Parkinson (Ex-Tranmere) Been around the bottom leagues for a few years with Tranmere Rovers and I wonder if he can still hack it in the Second Division.

Rating 2/5

Brett Angell Brett Angell (Ex-QPR) Well known for his playing days at Stockport County and hasn't succeeded at the other clubs he went to play with but with age against him don’t think Town will be interested.

Rating 1/5

Colin Cramb Colin Cramb (Ex-Crewe) Been at Crewe for most of his playing career and has been taught how to play football properly but being still young could be an outsider

Rating 3/5

Guy Ipoua Guy Ipoua (Ex-Gillingham) Been linked with Town under Lennie Lawrence when he was playing at Scunthorpe but hasn't settled since his move down South.

Rating 3/5

Karl Connolly Karl Connolly (Ex-QPR) Made his name at Wrexham where he was a free scoring forward but since he moved on hasn't found that form again.

Rating 2/5

Kyle Lightbourne Kyle Lightbourne (Ex-Macclesfield) A journeyman forward who has had a few clubs to his name but I think he’s missed his chance at moving to another club like Town.

Rating 1/5

Marco Gabbiadini Marco Gabbiadini (Ex-Northampton) Could he be another "Garry Birtles" where people thought he'd finished and Town got another 2 years out of him if he signed

Rating 2/5

Mike Sheron Mike Sheron (Ex-Barnsley) Could we raid Oakwell yet again as Mike being 31 could be the one that Town are signing, and has had 2 spells at Barnsley and never fulfilled his potential when he went back there.

Rating 4/5

Nigel Jemson Nigel Jemson (Ex-Shrewsbury) Older Town fans will remember him being on loan here when he played at Nottingham Forest. He scored 2 goals in the FA Cup last season but is getting on a bit.

Rating 2/5

Paul Kitson Paul Kitson (Ex-Brighton) Signed by Brighton but hardly played last season for them because of injuries that plagued him for that period.

Rating 3/5
