Jean-Paul Kamudimba To Miss Saturday's Game

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 04/08/2005

JEAN-Paul Kamudimba will miss Saturday's opening game. He was subbed in Tuesday's friendly against Blackburn after sustaining a knee injury that was not at first thought too serious.

Russell Slade said, after the game' "JP caught his knee when he slid in to make a tackle near the benches He was struggling a little bit so we thought it best not to take any chances."

The fact that there was not much swelling on the knee had given Slade hope that he would be okay for the curtain raiser with the O's, but now it has been revealed that he could be out for up to 2 weeks.

In the Grimsby Telegraph today Slade said;

"JP will miss the first two weeks with a sprain to his knee. It's bad news for us because he has been doing so well in his first few games."

"But we have to be thankful it isn't a lot worse and hopefully he will be back in time for the Darlington match in a fortnight."

"It leaves me with a bit of a headache in midfield because Ciaran Toner is still struggling with injury and he would be the natural replacement in JP's position."

"We will have to think about it before Saturday and see what the best option is."

Toner is also unlikely to be fit to start on Saturday due to an ankle problem but he is hoping to resume training next week though and could come into contention for a return at Chester next weekend.
