Beat the Bookies: Week 17

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 23/11/2005

WHO would have thought that Wycombe would have scored three goals against Town and that Mooney didn't get at least one?! Well it happened, which meant Beat the Bookies lost last week!

Home > 2005-2006 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 17

This weekend sees Town away once again, this time at Oxford. The bookies make the two sides dead level with. bet365.com offering either side to win at 6/4, and a draw 9/4. It's hard in truth to fancy any of those prices. Town will be looking to re-establish their away form after last week's first defeat. Last week's performance was too poor defensively without Rob Jones to strongly fancy Town to win. Oxford's recent form is not great. They grabbed a point in the first game of the season at Blundell Park with a late equaliser. It's that hard to call maybe a draw is the best bet!

Looking down the bet365.com coupon, a few fixtures stand out. West Ham are 4/1 to beat Man Utd at Upton Park. How many times over the years have the Hammers unexpectedly beaten United? The Londoners have to stand a chance especially at the moment when things are not going well for Utd.

In League Two Carlisle v Wycombe looks like being the game of the weekend. Carlisle's recent record at home, where they have traditonally been strong, has been excellent. Wycombe are still unbeaten, and both sides score lots of goals. Wycombe also concede lots of goals, as could be seen by anyone there when Town played them last week. The spread for total goals with IG Index is 2.6-2.9 which is above average but still worth a punt at £5 per goal.

RECOMMENDED BET OF THE WEEK:
Carlisle v Wycombe: buy total goals at 2.9
