Beat the Bookies: Week 20

By: Rob Sedgwick

TOWN's miserable defeat on Saturday to Bristol Rovers was perhaps a little unjust, but the result at least was a very minor financial consolation to me as we trudged out the ground.

Home > 2005-2006 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 20

This weekend sees Town head to Darlington, another bogey side of ours. Last season Darlington fluked two 1-0 wins against us, and somehow managed to beat us by the same scoreline at Blundell Park in the third game of the present season - another total travesty! The chances of Darlo making it 1-0 for the fourth consecutive game are 13/2 with bet365.com. The bookies make the game very close with Darlo just shading it at 7/5 over Town's 13/8 with bet365.com.

Elsewhere in the division, leaders Wycombe are good value to win at lowly Bury. bet365.com are offering a generous 6/5 for the in-form Chairboys to record yet another victory. Bury beat Leyton Orient last week away, but have lost their last two home games. Wycombe draw a lot of games, but I would have thought the odds of an away win were still better than 50/50.

The big game of the weekend in the Premisership sees Arsenal take on Chelsea at Highbury. Arsenal are having a poor season by their standards, but still have a 100% home record. An Arsenal win is ranked 15/8 with bet365.com. Chelsea are bound to slip up sooner or later, but I've been saying that for the last 18 months!
