Vote for your Player of the Season

WITH the season almost completed, it is once again time to decide on the Fishy's Player of the Year. The six nominees are those players who received the most votes in our Player of the Month awards, provided they are still at the club.

Phil Barnes - Barnes has had a mixed season, with some poor games, but it is easy to forget he has also had quite a lot of good ones too. In six out of eight months, Barnes received enough votes to qualify for the shortlist for Player of the Month, from which he got the second most votes of any player this season. The only player to play every game this season.

Paul Bolland - Bolly is one player who can be relied upon to always give his all, never shirk out of a tackle, and also get his fair share of goals from midfield. Although his season probably hasn't been quite as impressive as it was last year in a more successful side, he's probably still the first name on Alan Buckley's team sheet every week.

Peter Bore - Very few people had heard of Peter Bore at the start of the season, but few will forget his debut in the season's opener when he came on as a sub and scored two goals to help Town come from two goals down and beat Boston! Fell out of favour when Buckley first came back, but since then has returned to the team and kept Peter Till out for much of the season. When he was recalled to the team Bore scored a hattrick against Bury in the thrilling 4-3 win. The local lad is still only 19, and a great prospect for the future. Bore could also well end up as the season's top scorer despite not being picked for half the games and mostly playing on the wide right!

Nick Fenton - Probably Town's best defender for most of the season, Fenton is a classy player, comfortable on the ball and has good positional sense. Under Alan Buckley Fenton has formed an excellent partnership with Justin Whittle which has helped the Mariners get themselves out of trouble in 2007. Probably Graham Rodger's best signing of last summer.

Ciaran Toner - Toner, neglected by previous managers, has improved dramatically since Buckley took charge, and has added goals to his game in recent months. Although a natural central midfielder Toner has carved a place for himself on the left wing and kept a natural left-sided player Nick Hegarty out of the side. Out of contract at the end of the season, Toner's recent form has been attracting the attention of other clubs, including Notts County, and Town will do well to keep the Irishman over the summer.

Justin Whittle - Whitts is a no-nonsense defender who has formed a commanding partnership with Nick Fenton in central defence. Out of contract in the summer, but likely to remain at the club for at least another year if he doesn't decided to hang his boots up.

Please vote using Question of the Week. The winner will be presented the trophy at the annual player of the year awards.
