Club Needs Stability and Support

IT now seems that Grimsby Town are in a right dogfight to get out of the lower reaches of their respective division, The mighty Mariners just do not seem to be getting the rub of the Irish green.

Once again after playing well against Rotherham at Millmoor in what was again a close game with Town although having Fenton sent off finally crumbled to end up with a 2-1 defeat which leaves us in the bottom three.

There are a lot of supporters who are calling for Alan Buckley's head. I know it is frustrating. There is nobody more than myself who is gutted to see where the club is lying in the league, we deserve better and I truly believe that Mr. Buckley will turn it round eventually.

It is very easy to blame the manager. To me the answer is to get behind the players and Manager. It is still early days at the moment, if we do change the manager the new guy will have new ideas, new playing methods, which will take some time to get used to. Also that would mean that we have had three managers in about a year and half.

This football club needs stability, not a change of management, the results in my opinion will come if we believe in the players and the manager.

The other matter which we have to ask is, if a new manager came in everybody knows that the club has got no money to spend on players even the great Alex Ferguson at Man Utd would find it extremely difficult indeed to operate at Grimsby Town

Although it would be a different matter I am sure if we continued losing the next few games but I honestly feel that we have too many good players for that to happen.

On the playing side I am disappointed in the fact that Danny North is not getting into the first team squad on a regular basis, because I feel with his spirit and energy and goal scoring ability it could only be an asset to the team. But again, you have to put your faith in the manager, because only the boss and his staff knows what the attitude and spirit is from his players on a day to day basis at the training ground.

I often speak to Danny and I know he has got the utmost respect for Alan Buckley, and it has to be said, if Alan is making Danny see the way a Footballer should behave out on the football pitch, it will only help him for his future in the professional game.

I sent this column before the result from the Tuesday game at MK Dons which is a very difficult fixture indeed, followed by another away game against Carlisle which is no easy game at all, in fact the next league home game for Town is the fixture against Morecambe on November 17th

A lot of things could be decided after this run of fixtures because in my opinion if we get some good results it will focus us to climb up the league to a respectable position, but if it goes the other way there will be a lot of questions to be answered by the Management at the football club.

I firmly believe that we will come out of this on the right side and will move up the league to a respectable position.
