Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Angry Lennie!!

By: Stephen Bateman
Date: 22/11/2000

Mariners boss Lennie Lawrence blasted his team after a dismal showing against a struggling Wolves side on Tuesday night. Grimsby have now lost their last three games and the evidence of tonight's performance offers little hope of improvement.

Lawrence was clearly angered by the manner in which his side collapsed as he reacted to yet another inept defensive performance. Speaking after the game Lawrence fumed "There is not too much to take positive away from this game and nothing at all from the first half."

After conceding nine goals in the last three games Lawrence is justifiably furious about his side's abysmal defensive efforts as he went on to say "Playing three at the back clearly is beyond them, that much has been rammed home tonight".

"Wolves will never get an easier three points as long as they live," added the Grimsby manager.

The Mariners must re-group quickly as they prepare for a visit to high-flying Fulham on Saturday. Town fans will take little comfort from Lawrence's insistence that he will 'keep chipping away' at the megalithic problems that currently face his side.
