HUMBERSIDE Airport has pledged its support to Grimsby Town Football Club by committing to a three year sponsorship plan with the Grimsby Town School of Excellence.

Rob Goldsmith, Managing Director of Humberside Airport and John Fenty, Chairman of Grimsby Town FC met at Blundell Park today to launch the deal. They were accompanied by Neil Woods, Youth Team Coach, First Team Manager, Russell Slade and the Grimsby Town Youth Squad. Rob was treat to a tour of the ground and had the opportunity to speak to members of the Youth Team who will benefit from the funding.

The airport joins legions of concerned fans that have already got behind the Telegraph's 'Keep the Mariners Afloat' campaign. This latest announcement will be welcomed by the Grimsby Town Supporters Trust as they rally local businesses to dig deep to help the club.

Football is very much at the heart of the community in Grimsby and the School of Excellence is vital in encouraging and developing local talent.

John Fenty, Chairman of Grimsby Town FC commented: "Youngsters who have dreamed of playing professional football, especially for their local team, rely on the outstanding work of Neil Woods and the School of Excellence to make this a reality.

"We are extremely grateful for the backing of Humberside Airport, especially at a time when we are urging other local businesses and organisations to get behind the Mariners."

Rob Goldsmith, Managing Director of Humberside Airport, commented: "We are delighted to announce our support for The Grimsby Town FC School of Excellence.

"We were very impressed with the dedication and determination of both the players and the staff at School of Excellence and working with them allows us to make a significant contribution to the community. We urge other businesses in the region to show their support for their local team."
