so sad to see another young life lost in this "battle" especially as its  Grimsby lad

we have been waging this war on terror for longer than we did the 2nd world war, but still see no end in site, the situation is worse now than it was 3 or 4 years ago, we have no stratagy and we are not wanted there.

Asia is not the west, even Japan and Korea have lame democracies that permit strong discrimination against outsiders. So the Islamic republic in Afghanistan has no intentions of being democratic. Especially in its poverty stricken state.

the islamic rag heads defeated the Soviet Army (althought their tactics waged war on the public too, so where at war with a whole nation) this war looks like another Vietnam for us all, as well of the financial costs we have to cough up for...........Bin Laden is probably dead and the Yanks know this, but just need an excuse to carry this on & we are just following their lead............probably only over oil pipelines if the truth be known

Bush & Blair have a lot to answer to/for

(my opinions and not based on anything else but my own belief)

If all the cars in England were placed end to end on a long road, some sharp object in a Type-R would still try to pass them

I have to say I agree with you.
I would LOVE to see both Bush and Blair put on trial for warcrimes and dishonesty over STARTING th war.

From memory the bombing of Afghanistan and the U.S. involvement was a direct typical U.S. response to the 11 September. What the Americans never got a grasp of was the fact that unlike Pearl Harbour they weren't fighting a country they were dealing with a disparate organisation present in lots of countries.
Quite why we got involved at all is anybody's guess. Someone should have told "Tone" that being a special friend means being being able to say "Now come on George do you think that's right?"
It will unfortunately always be thus. Since before Adam was a lad governments around the world have asked working class men and women to die for somewhat spurious reasons.

Oh and deep down you KNOW that Bush and Blair will never be brought to trial......

Agreed wholeheartedly. Those who lay down their lives at their countries bidding are due the utmost respect.

I personally don't think that people should link Iraq and Afghanistan. The reasons for going to war in Iraq probably had little to do with Saddam (although he offered the Western world a gift wrapped excuse) and far more to do with the millions of barrels of oil under their particular patch of sand.

Thats not far wrong you old cynic.

I'd have Cheney up against the wall closely followed by the idiot Bush and the smiling cretin Blair.Trouble is these blokes have never actually served in the forces don't know what fighting for your country means or what having your mates killed round you is all about.
