Jason's Message to Fans

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 02/09/2000

Jason Batty today in a message to Grimsby Town's supporters said that he was delighted at the prospect of becoming a Mariner and that it was "every players dream" to come to England and play in one of the top two divisions. Jason's full message is:

"Hi to all at Grimsby. I am really excited at the prospect of becoming a Mariner and grateful for the opportunity given to me by by one of your ex pat shareholders Peter Lilliman. Peter runs Cargo Slide Systems here in New Zealand and when I became available from my club, he kindly made contact and recommended me to your club.

"I don't know an awful lot about Grimsby except it is the 'Fish and Chips' capital of England. As a youngster I came to England after playing in the U 17 World Cup qualifiers and spent 2 years at Norwich so I have had previous experience in living in England. I know that you will be very friendly and make me most welcome.

"I have been fortunate to play in a variety of countries around the world from New Zealand. I have toured South America, China, Middle East and Asia which has given me some great experiences. However it is every players dream to be part of the fantastic experience of League Football in England and I am no different."

"I look forward to meeting as many fans as possible and giving 100% and more to Grimsby Town FC and hope my international experience against some of the world's best countries can help to make the club as successful as we can."
