Stadium Statement

Grimsby Town Football Club have now responded to the news of the release of the independent consultants report on suitable sites for the location of the new stadium. Bryan Huxford, Vice Chairman of the club today made the following statement.

"The findings are very positive and it was the outcome we were hoping for. "We are very hopeful that in the next 14 days North East Lincolnshire Council will make a decision as to whether to include one of the sites in the draft Local Plan." "Relocation to a new stadium was the key to the football club's future". "It is vital that Grimsby Town gets a site which is suitable for doing the job. It is imperative that the football club relocates as it won't survive where it is," "The new stadium has to be in a position where it is amenable to all the requirements, where it does not encroach upon the local environment and where it causes minimal inconvenience." "From the point of view of the football club, nothing would happen regarding the development of a new stadium until there was a decision from the council as to whether to include one of the sites in the draft Local Plan". "The report was commissioned by the council. The result of that report is there for everyone to see. The decision is that of North East Lincolnshire Council and nobody else."
