Knut Hits Back

Norwegian trialist Knut Anders Fostervold, who will be arriving at Blundell Park on Sunday, has hit back at suggestions that he is a mercenary who is only coming to Grimsby "for the money". I sent Knut an e-mail asking him about the interview and if he was looking forward to playing for Grimsby.

Knut Anders Fostervold claims that he was mis-quoted in the interview with the Norwegian "tabloid" web site fotball247.com. In the interview Fostervold is portrayed as wanting to travel to Grimsby prinicipally to earn money.

Knut, who is under no illusions that Grimsby are a "glamour team", replied: "Well, this is not what I meant! To be honest am I going over because the family want to try something new. It's always healthy to look around for new challenges from time to time. And I also like Grimsby because it is a seaside town!!! "

Knut Anders: Seeks Good Life
He adds; The "reason I was irritated over the 247-interview was that I was describes as a 'money-hunter'! I don't recognize me like that, but when the journalist ask about the economical is meaning something for you, I would lied if I said no. After all I have three children and a wife I want to secure the future for. In the same time - money isn't all - money is not why I play the game, if so I wouldn't have played in Molde for so long!

I think I'm a person that needs to have a club that cares about you. High payment isn't the same as a good life!

Knut also told me: "It's true that after the Brann match I first came in contact with Grimsby. Guess I wasn't playing that bad - though we lost... Lennie Lawrence saw the match and it seems like he enjoyed what he saw, therefore I was invited over to see on the circumstances over there, and it give the club a better chance to see me play. One match will probably be too a thin a foundation to judge from. I naturally hope that it ends with a contract for Grimsby, because this will be a nice challenge and experience after many years in Norwegian top football with Molde FK. The level in Nationwide division 1 is maybe a bit under Norwegian Tippeliga, but has harder demands to tempo and effort! So it will probably be a change from what I'm used to. But I enjoy to battle and play hard, so that is not a problem for me!"

"It is nice to see there are real supporters out there, it is a bit to stupid to be a 'trophy hunter' and follow a team like Man U. Then it is much nicer to follow a team with soul, as Grimsby, where not everything always going straightforward all the time.

"I Hope I can do a job for a team like Grimsby, even though you may get bigger challenges by meeting Real Madrid, Porto, Mallorca, CSKA Moskva and Olympiakos in the Champions league, even as a captain.

"I'm looking forward to play for a typical Engish club with those traditions and emotions that are in English clubs that is more exciting in total. Therefore it would have been cool if I could be a part of this. But, it's not a reality yet, but I'll do my best!"
