LL: "We Are Ready!"

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 20/02/2001

With the state of the pitch being Grimsby manager Lennie Lawrence's only concern, he is confident that Town can spring a few surprises on promotion-chasing Bolton Wanderers tonight. The Reebok Stadium pitch is the worst in the league at the moment and both teams will find it very heavy going.

With Wayne Burnett out of consideration due to his facial injury sustained on Saturday, Lawrence replaces him with Stacey Coldicott but on-loan midfielder Stuart Campbell is also in doubt which means another shuffle of the pack.

"Nobody outside of our camp will expect us to get anything and we've got to try and spring a surprise. They're a good side but not unbeatable," tough-talking Lennie told the Grimsby Telegraph about tonight's match. "We have had a month up until Saturday with no midweek games and we've trained every day, apart from Sundays, with no days off."

"We are going to go and not be afraid. We've had a good win and they've got all sorts of games and we are just a nuisance in the middle.

"I'm as confident as I can be and I quite fancy it. The pitch is heavy and demanding but I'm quite relaxed and looking forward to it.

The latest news is that the game is near to a sell out with a 25,000 crowd expected.
