Mariners Fans Nearing Season Ticket Record Sales

By: Mariners Net
Date: 09/06/2001

GRIMSBY TOWN Football Club are delighted to announce excellent season ticket sales, with over 850 already sold. This equates to £130,000 - an excellent take-up considering the early stage of the pre-season.

Sales had surpassed the £100,000 mark by June 1st - when the club had forecast a figure closer to £50,000.

The club's Accounts Manager, Steve Wraith, explained: "The income so far from season ticket sales has been vitally important to us because since the Fulham game, we have had no other daily income, so this £130,000 has gone a long way to enhancing the club's cash flow. Remember that we still have to pay player's wages and the status bonus - so the season ticket revenue this year is even more critical than usual."

Mr Wraith added: "We're hoping to surpass the £360,000 we achieved last year (with 2300 sales) and are looking for at least 2,800 sales with a turnover of £400,000 plus."

One of the reasons behind the season ticket success, is the impact which the £50 junior ticket has had on sales. Over 250 have so far been sold, already eclipsing the season ticket sales for juniors last year - when the final figure was 200. With season ticket sales traditionally picking up in the final weeks of June, the club may break the 500 barrier in this junior sector.

Mr Wraith concluded: "It all goes to enhance the atmosphere at Blundell Park on a match day, and hopefully the juniors will bring a friend or maybe a parent."

P.S. ...DON'T FORGET YOUR DAD'
