Ramdsen: I Saved Grimsby From the Receivers

GRIMSBY TOWN's major shareholder Dudley Ramsden today hit back at claims that he was not committed to the Mariners by explaining his present role in Town's tight financial budget. Ramsden claimed that a few weeks ago, he personally saved the club from going to the receivers with a substantial loan.
In a rare interview given to BBC Radio Humberside, Ramsden detailed how the club are still suffering from serious cash flow problems, and will remain so until the television money comes through in September. Half of this television money will be used to pay off the club's outstanding debts from last year, he explained.
The 55-year-old chairman of the Grimsby-based Ramsden Group and the £15-billion turnover Nisa Today organisation went on to say that the present debts could total up to £1.6 million. Once again, he re-iterated how committed he was to the club's cause and said how he just wanted to see Grimsby Town run on a sound commercial basis.
This is unlikely to convince the Town faithful that Ramsden is the person to lead the Mariners forward, and many disgruntled fans will want him and his supporters on the board to face the music in regard to their both the ever decreasing size of Town's new stadium at Great Coates and their complete rejection of the ambitious Bryan Huxford's takeover plans.
