Paul Agnew 'Aggy' was signed from Cliftonville in the mid 80's as a raw teenager. For most of his early career he was cover at both left back and centre back. This continued in the 90's as the Irishman provided cover for Kev Jobling but still managed to get in a fair few games a season.

Agnew will be part of Town folklore forever thanks to his equaliser against Scunthorpe in the 89/90 season. In 1994 Aggy joined up with Alan Buckley at West Brom. The defender left West Brom for Swansea before returning to Ireland.
