Neil Woods | 1990/91-1997/98 | 176 (52) | 42 goals |
With Town just been promoted to the old Division 3, Alan Buckley decided to loan striker Neil Woods from Bradford City. Woods scored in his first three games whilst striking up an excellent, if slightly back-heel reliant, partnership with Tony Rees. Town signed Woods permanently and the Mariners were promoted that season.
In Division Two Woods struggled in front of goal. Woods seemed to have kick-started his career as a playmaker. He played in this role against Norwich in the FA Cup (97/98) helping Town to a 3-0 victory. After a bust-up with Alan Buckley, Woods was released to York before returning as a coach and is now Youth Coach.
