Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Bradford Report Card

By: Dr Fishy
Date: 01/10/2001

DR FISHY has compiled match statistics and a report card for the Grimsby Town side that lost 3-2 away to Bradford on Saturday.

Home > 2001-2002 Season > Report Cards > Bradford (a)

Coyne - Wales No 1, or should that be No 4 was again in excellent form. The Prestatyn born denied Gareth Walley on several occasions to keep Town within touching distance.

Grade: B+

Butterfield - Average performance from young Danny, Emanual put him under pressure for a lot of the game, wandered about to much for my liking. Lennie needs to find his best position and it ain’t central midfield.

Grade: C

Gallimore - Gally struggled a bit with Gunnar Halle but held out well for most the game. Many left backs will have worse games against the former Oldham player. Saw a free kick go over.

Grade: C+

Groves - Something is quite clearly not right with Grovsey, the last few games he’s been all over the place. He really needs a rest. Caught out by the tricky Blake on many occasions.

Grade: C

Beharall - Not the Geordie’s best game. Ashley Ward certainly made him work, brought the ball forward well and at times was Towns saving grace in defence.

Grade: C+

Pouton - The hero of the youth was again in typical form. Running at people, losing the ball, winning it back and losing it again. Forced very deep and was almost man-marking Jess at times. As soon as Pouton learns to pass the ball a big team will come in for him. Again he failed to play 2 yard passes with his left peg, but somehow put several quality crosses in the box on it!

Grade: B-

Burnett - This has been a really disappointing season for Wayne. Didn’t really create all that much and gave the ball away too often. His height was of benefit against a large Bradford team.

Grade: C

Campbell - The Corby born Scotsman is finally reaching the form of last season, playing more down the middle than wide. Direct running was a problem for the Bantams, unlucky to have hit the post from a free-kick.

Grade: B

Jevons - Phil was quite clearly not fit and everyone bar Lennie Lawrance could see it. When on the pitch he made a few nice layoffs, I won’t be too harsh with the rating as it wouldn’t be fair.

Grade: C

Rowan - Young Jonny is turning into a class striker, ran his socks off all game and deserved his goal. His wholehearted approach is appreciated by the fans and he is fast giving Alan Pouton competition for the fans admiration.

Grade: B+

Allen - Playing behind the front two suited Brad when going forward, however he’s not a midfielder so he didn’t really drop back and help out that often. Linked up very well with Rowan and I’d like to see these two play up front on Friday.

Grade: B

Boulding - Tim Henmans best mate has certainly proved a good buy. His pace caused Robert Molennar to change his pants more than once in the game. Excellent goal and should have had a penalty.

Grade: B+

Jeffery - To be fair, this wasn’t the type of game for Michael, he plays better in slow games when we are under a bit of pressure. However he gave the ball away which resulted in their 3rd goal.

Grade: C-

Chapman - ‘Chappy’ didn’t really get a chance so to grade him would be unfair.
