Where will Grimsby be next season?

Get Behind The Gaffer

By: Ray Lucas Junior

FOOTBALL is a funny old game. Upstairs in the Premiership, Stuart Gray has lost his job as Southampton boss after eight games. In Division One, many people are wondering if Lennie Lawrence should go. Not as far as I'm concerned.

Lennie took over under fantastically difficult circumstances. And he's been here before. He was the mastermind in keeping Charlton in the top flight in the 80's and early 90s. Plus he laid the foundations for Middlesborough to enter the big league under Bryan Robson. Yes, LL had bad spells at Bradford and Luton, but the man knows what he's doing.

As you all know, being in charge of Town is no picnic, often having to sell our best players to survive, Jack Lester being an example. But Lennie, to his credit, has always tried to bring quality to our little club. David Beharall and Stuart Campbell are class and are here thanks to Lennie's shrewd talent in the transfer market.

At the present time, our League position is looking precarious with no wins in 5, but Lennie will turn it around. He's faced the impossible before and won. I'm quite sure he'll do it again.

Lennie is the right man for the job, please show your support. Don't forget he plotted Liverpool's downfall. Watford was a low point on Saturday, but we will rise to the occasion and show our Liverpool spirit in our next fixture.

Remember: The future's bright, the future's Lennie.
