Record Gate Expected For Owl's Game

GRIMSBY Town say they are under siege as they struggle to cope with demand for the big Bank Holiday showdown with Sheffield Wednesday. The game is set to draw an all-ticket sell out 9,500 crowd.
"We look like selling all tickets before the day of the match for the first time in many years," said accounts manager Steve Wraith. Sheffield have already sold their 2,400 away allocation in a single day and could bring many more supporters if there were tickets available.
But Mariners fans, thrilled by the club's recent run, have been snapping them up, says Mariners Net
".…By 4pm yesterday we had already surpassed a 7,000 gate…."
The absolute capacity of Blundell Park under the all-seater regulations is 10,033 but with several hundred seats offering restricted views and not all season ticket holders attending the real capacity is around 9,500.
"By 4pm yesterday we had already surpassed a 7,000 gate," Mr Wraith added with only around 2,500 'decent' seats left. There were 700 in the Main Stand, 600 in the Upper Smith's and 800 in the Pontoon. There are an additional 333 uncovered seats in the Harrington Street Open Corner temporary seating (between the Pontoon & Main Stands).
"Although credit card bookings are being taken, supporters are asked to be patient as we have to 'filter' out potential 'bogus' bookings by desperate Sheff Wed supporters! Those booking by credit card are advised to have ready information (ie booking references) from previous credit card bookings for security reasons," he went on.
"To deter Sheffield Wednesday supporters from getting in the home ends, we may request supporters to show identification (a bill or driving licence) for security reasons if required, when purchasing their tickets."
Tickets are also on sale for the game against Birmingham at St Andrews on Saturday. The club has 600 on sale from an overall allocation of 900. Prices are £16 Adults and £8 concessions.
Burnley tickets are also now on sale.
The ticket office will be open on Friday and Saturday from 9am to 3pm and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
