Time To Look Back!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 29/04/2002

IT IS this time of the year that the planning for the next season gets really serious. The time when players contracts are up for renewal and, the decision of who will be retained and who will be let go is made. And, of course, the time when we, the fans, try to predict what will happen.

Unfortunately, with the failure of ITV Digital, this season the task is made much more difficult for the fans to make their predictions, but it is even more difficult for the manager and the board.

Working to a financial plan that may include all of the TV money, some of it, or nothing at all, has placed football clubs in a position that they have not experienced since the declaration of world war 2 which also threw the football world into turmoil.

The fact that all Nationwide clubs have the same problem does not help. Our concern, quite rightly, is what will happen at Grimsby Town. Despite all the predictions made and the disappointment over responses to offers already made, we should all be experienced enough as supporters of the Mariners to expect the unexpected.

So until the retained list is published, it is pointless trying to foresee the future.

But we can look back!

The past season has been an exciting time for Mariner's fans and we have all shared the bad times and celebrated the good times. But we probably all remember it for different reasons.

Why not share your best and worst moments of last season with us?

What was your favourite game? Which one was the worst for you? What was your favourite goal? Who was your favourite player?

Tell your story on the Fishy!

You don't need to be a journalist. Just tell it in your own words. We will edit and correct spelling errors etc. But please make it long enough to use. A minimum of 3 paragraphs (about the same size as the first 3 paragraphs in this article) will suffice. Make it longer if you wish. You can make it funny, sad or just a review of your season as you saw it. But let us hear your story!
