The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Who will go down?

Supporters Trust

MOST Fishy readers would know that there are two active Grimsby Town supporters groups in existence. GTISC (Grimsby Town International Supporters Club) and IAGE (It's A Grim Exile). There is some interaction between the two groups and where possible, we work together in our support of the Mariners.

Over the last few months we have been discussing the creation of the Grimsby Town Supporters Trust and recently there have been a number of requests that a trust should be formed.

In response to those requests and as the club is in severe financial difficulties it appears that now is the right time to go ahead with the formation of the trust.

In order to create a trust it is first necessary to create a working party who will work on the creation of the trust with Supporters Direct who I will explain more about later in this article.

It is important that I point out straight away that although GTISC and the Grim Exiles are jointly initiating the formation of a working party to work towards the creation of a trust, the trust will be independent of either of the two groups and indeed any other group or groups. It will be an independent body controlled and managed by the supporters of Grimsby Town.

That is not to say that members of GTISC or the Grim Exiles will not be participating because it is our hope that all Mariners fans will be involved.

But first I have put together information on the working party, some of the most frequent questions about trusts from information supplied from Supporters Direct and information about Supporters Direct - who they are and what they do.

If you are interested and would like to help or if you just want further information I have created a new message board on the Fishy where we can all communicate and provide information. You can also email me on billo@gtisc.co.uk
